Woman Life Freedom Movement
On 13 September 2022, a 22-year-old Iranian Kurdish woman, Zhina (Mahsa) Amini was arrested in Tehran by Iran’s so-called “morality” police. She was violently beaten while in custody and died three days later. Mahsa’s death sparked widespread protests across Iran. Since then, Regime’s State Forces have brutally killed about 500 women, men, and children in different cities.
About Us
We are a community of Iranians and allies at UCSF, united for human rights, particularly women’s rights in Iran. We recognize Zhina (Mahsa) Amini’s death at the hands of the “morality” police as the ultimate example of years of repression of women by the regime’s policies. We support the anti-patriarchal feminist movement in Iran and strive to end violence and misogyny.
We aim to assist the peaceful protestors and Iranian scholars in Iran through our connection with university coalitions and leadership. We have no religious or political affiliation or relevant financial disclosure incentives. The views expressed here are solely our own. The University of California has not endorsed these views and no such endorsement should be assumed or implied.
